Scenario: The entire class of 20 students used the auto-annotation function of DNA Master to predict the genes of your class phage. Not all results returned the same number of genes and features? Why?
As you answer this question, please report back the experience in YOUR classroom. How many students auto-annotated and how many different results (and the number of each) did you obtain? Please tell me what phage you auto-annotated, so I can collect the numbers correctly.
Another way to ask this question is how do GeneMark and Glimmer determine coding potential?
And finally, does it matter? Why or why not? In the words of the Good Witch of the North, is this a good thing or a bad thing?
