Discovery NotesOur phage was found next to a flower bed after a storm of rain near a construction site. The phage was found in roughly 3-5 inches deep in to the soil. The sample contained soil, rooted, and minor rocks. The soil was very soft and moist. The soil was close to being like mud. Found 9-7-2017.
Naming NotesThere are 2 parts of the name Viraflorus. Vira- comes from the term virus. This is just due to the fact that a phage is a virus. -florus comes from the term flora. Flora is the name of the Roman Goddess of flowers. This is because our phage was found next to a flower bed.
