Discovery NotesDiscovered on 9/3/13
Miami University, Oxford, Ohio
Found in the woods behind Collins Hall.
The soil was wet, the edge of the woods had trees with exposed roots, various plants, and many dead and decomposing leaves. The air temperature was 22 degrees celsius. The virus was isolated using a standard enrichment technique.
Naming NotesDorsey Hall 100 is where I am currently living at Miami University. I found the phage near Dorsey Hall, and all the work to analyze the phage was conducted at Miami University. For these reasons, I named my phage after where I am living (freshman year) at Miami University.

Lysogeny NotesThe plaque is lysogenic, but on a few titers it appeared at least partially lytic. Because of this, it is possible that this phage gave rise to lytic variants, or that occasionally it was examined in a lytic stage. The cause of the switch from lysogenic to lytic is unknown.
Annotating InstitutionUnknown or unassigned
Annotation StatusNot sequenced
Plaque NotesThe plaque changed morphotypes a few times. The plaque size varied based on the day, but eventually stabilized.
