Discovery NotesPhage was extracted from soil with an approximate depth of six inches from the surface of a flowerbed. The weather was snowy and cold.
Naming NotesThe name is a Latin portmanteau of Gelida which could mean frozen with the suffix -ian added on at the end which could mean One Who. So, the word Gelidian should roughly mean One Who is Frozen. It was inspired by the absolutely frigid temperatures I endured while extracting my sample from the soil.
