| Discovery Notes | The sample was provided by a 1st grade class that collected soil samples as part of a science activity. Our professor brought the samples into our lab for students to test for phage samples. The samples were collected around a West Lafayette elementary school with the GPS coordinates of approximately 40.44 N and 86.91 W. The soil sample can be described as a solid texture similar to dirt. One of the first grader's sample was able to obtain phage after direct plating was performed on the sample. |
| Naming Notes | The phage name originated from the use of my name and the name of the 1st grader who obtained the sample for me to test. I felt like it was only proper to give credit to the person who found and obtained the sample. The 1st graders name was Hansol so I took the first three letters of his name and the first three letters of my last name in order to create the phage name. |

| Plaque Notes | The plaque morphology was obtained after performing streak test on the phage sample that was received from a direct plating sample. We decided to forgo the spot test because of time restraints. The plates that were successfully purified and the number of plaques were calculated. The ten plate infection was carried out with the plaque having a diameter of 1.2 mm. The phage has a flexible tail and appear to be double stranded. The heads are circular and the concentration of the phage is high. |
