Discovery NotesThe phage was discovered in the soil taken from H block at UKZN Westville Campus. The soil was in the garden, dry, soft, dark in colour. It was fortunate to find this phage since it was found in the sixth enriched soil sample.
Naming NotesThe phage is named after my mother(Nelisiwe) who passed away in 2006. She was very sick and was diagnosed with TB because she was immune compromised and she passed away while on TB treatment. It named after her since this phage infect Mycobacterium smegmatis mc 155 and have a potential to infect Mycobacterium tuberculosis which can be a potential cure for TB.
