Discovery NotesThe sample was approximately 3 grams and was collected on Tuesday, 9/15/15 at approximately 7:00 pm. The sample was collected using a plastic spoon to shovel the soil into a plastic test tube which was capped and stored in a plastic ziplock bag. The weather was warm and approximately 75°F (23.8°C). The sample was collected outside of Sage Hall at Smith College, Northampton, MA. The GPS coordinates of the site were recorded as 42°18’57.11’’N and 72°38’24.00’’W. The location was a grassy area with the site of the sample being approximately 2 cm below the surface grass. The site is close to a building and a parking lot and accordingly experiences mild foot traffic. Based on observations the soil was mildly moist.
