Discovery NotesTheShank was discovered by walking out of the front door of the BioMed facility at Brown University, walking down the stairs, and digging in the first patch of dirt to the immediate left.
Naming NotesThe latter part of the name "SlimShanky" is derived from Dr. Peter Shank, one of the professors of Phage Hunters at Brown University. While researching phage himself, Dr. Shank obtained his phage by walking right outside his building and digging in the first patch of dirt he saw, the same technique used to obtain SlimShanky.
