| Discovery Notes | The soil sample was from the dirt in a potted petunia plant in Lincoln, Nebraska that was collected on September 29, 2015. The temperature was 72 degrees Fahrenheit. The sample was collected three inches below the ground line. |
| Naming Notes | Tartarus means "black abyss" in Greek. My original phage was hard to isolate because it was temperate, so I had to adopt this phage from Felicia. While I was attempting to isolate my temperate phage, the task seemed bottomless, like it would never end, hence the name abyss. |
