Discovery NotesThe soil sample was collected from under a tree off. The soil was slightly damp and brown. It was 26.6 degrees Celsius, shady, cloudy, and 76% humidity.
Naming NotesMy phage is named Zephaniah after the prophet who wrote the book of Zephaniah in the bible. I named my phage Zephaniah because I liked the uniqueness of the name and relates back to Christianity.

Plaque NotesZephaniah is about 2 mm in diameter and the turbidity is very high. The plaques are small making the burst size small as well. The plaques are all circular, considerably small, and quite blurry. They resemble the shape and size of poppy seeds. Since the plaques are foggy looking, this indicates Zephaniah is temperate. In other words my phage are capable of lysing some fraction of the bacteria it infects and repress the DNA. Because the burst size is small this indicates there is a smaller amount of phage produced per infected bacteria.
