| Discovery Notes | The soil was taken on 9/4/18 outside the side entrance to Clapp Hall in University of Pittsburgh on the lawn next to the sidewalk. The soil was extremely wet and dense after a heavy rain, and clumped together like mud. The sample area seemed to be of a consistent mixture and the surrounding area was primarily covered with a layer of grass and weeds, and above the soil there was a thin network of root that protected the soil. There was a fair amount of decaying plant matter present such as leave. The air was quite humid and warm. The soil sample was transported for roughly 1 minute and as stored for around 20 minutes. |
| Naming Notes | The name Ampa9 was named after the names of my immediate family members. The first letter of my mom, dad, sister and my first name was taken to create "Ampa" and 9 is my favorite number. |
