Discovery NotesFrom McCarthy Park Stormwater Retention Basin in Whitemarsh Township, PA. Soil contained decomposing organic material, as well as a high amount of moisture from a nearby pond. From the same soil sample as Conboy phage.
Naming NotesChestnut was named after my home institution, Chestnut Hill College, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Does not grow at 37 degrees Celsius. Grows just as well without any calcium (at optimal temperature) as it does with 25 mM CaCl2 concentration.
