Discovery NotesThe soil sample was taken near Bayou Desiard. The bank was very fertile with lots of fallen leaves and tree limbs. The dense rotting foliage gave rise to many moist and rich potential locations to collect a sample from. This particular sample came from beneath a fallen limb segment. Many of the fallen limbs contained lichen, spores, and grubs.
Naming NotesThe sample was taken from tree limbs which contained grubs. The grubs made us think of the movie The Lion King, hence the name Hakuna Matata.
