Naming NotesThe name for this phage is derived from all-time great middle distance runner Hicham El Guerrouj. El Guerrouj became "The King of the Mile" after a furious 10 year career in which he shattered the world 1500 meter and 1 Mile run records. His 1500m run (3:26.00), set in Rome in 1998, still stands today. This phage was named in his honor for the incredible impact he has had on the distance running world.
