Discovery NotesThe phage was taken from a soil sample found in a garden near the center for social concerns at Johns Hopkins University. I used a plastic spoon to get the soil and put it in a plastic tube. It was taken near a bean plant.
Naming NotesThe name of the phage, Masterchief, comes from a character from the Halo series. The phage itself formed many plaques on the plates and so its aggressive style reminded me of this character.
