Discovery NotesPhage collected from soil where tomoates were growing; some tomoates fell from branches onto the soil. Dug about two inches into the soil with a plastic spoon then scooped sample into testtube labelled: Sample O. Thin, small roots entwined in soil. Surroundings:29 degrees celsius, 15% precipitation, 49% humidity, 16 km/h wind, partly cloudy
Naming NotesOedipus Rex is the name of an Athenian tragedy by Sophocles. It is the story of a man whose great high in life becomes a shattering low once a long hidden secret becomes revealed. Similarly, my phage isolation and purification process was going great, until a new phage morphology appeared, suggesting a contaminated lysate. This discovery led to additional weeks of purification in an effort to once again isolate my original phage, which was eventually accomplished.
