Discovery NotesAs a member of Christiansburg Rescue Squad, the adventure of discovering a phage would involve my Rescue Family as well. From this I brought Toby Akers, a current member, to help discover some active location. The soil sample used for this phage came from a relative still mud pit below a bridge with lots of algae flourishing.
Naming NotesDuring Fall 2017, a member of Christiansburg Rescue passed away 09SEP17 at the young age of 31. Ryan was a Virginia Tech alumni as an aerospace engineer. He truly embodied "Ut Prosim" by choosing to help others above working for NASA. Since the phage was discovered from Christiansburg soil, it is only fair to name the phage in his memory.
