Discovery NotesThe University of Pittsburgh's Oakland campus is home to a landmark historic building known as the Cathedral of Learning. It's an important symbol of our institution and serves as the center of everything. My phage was isolated from a soil sample collected from one of the Cathedral of Learning flower beds, which I think is perfect considering that I'm doing the SEA PHAGES program at Pitt.
Naming NotesMy phage is named Ribby after my crazy calico cat. She would be proud to have a bacteriophage that causes cells to lyse named after her.
