Discovery NotesTFrancis was found in a dirt sample collected on August 26, 2013, just after 4:30 pm, from under a tree behind Jefferson Hall at the University of Mary Washington. The dirt sample was collected from a hole with a depth of 6.35 cm. The ground under the tree was dry and almost completely covered with fallen leaves. The approximate air temperature at the time of collection was 29.3°C. The collection site was approximately 3 meters away from a a building and a concrete sidewalk. The collection site was on a hill that sloped down to the East, and there were other trees nearby.
Naming NotesThe name of TFrancis was inspired by my ninth and tenth grade biology and anatomy and physiology teacher, Tony Francis. Mr. Francis's teaching helped me to love learning more about the sciences and understanding how the world works.
