Discovery NotesSample was found near a landfill on the outskirts of Orono, this page was not inhabiting the landfill, but was retrieved in the surrounding forest, collection was near a wood chip pile off the side of the road, bordering the forest. The soil was damp as well as the weather.
Naming NotesPhage was formerly named StalinsHammer, named after the famous 205mm B4 soviet artillery pieces that served in action during World War Two, however, the name was declined as it was named after a dictator that killed millions of innocent men, women, and children. The name was changed to BigDaddy, a fictional character form the Bioshock™ video game series. These characters were large, deadly, and were modeled after antique diver suits. The name complements the phages size of roughly 500 nm, larger then most other pages gathered at the same time as BigDaddy.

Plaque Notes The phage morphology was clear, showing no signs of turbidity. The plaques were also observed as being small in size as well as having a circular shape, the borders of the plaques were smooth with no signs of distortion with the exception of plaques contacting other plaques, in which case there was a small border of bacterial cells between the plaques. BigDaddy measured to be roughly 500 nm in length. BigDaddy was shown to have an icosahedral head that measured about 100nm in diameter. The head was black and circular in shape with rough edges that protruded and gave the head an uneven shape. The tail measured to be 400nm in length. The tail was clear, flexible, and had a rough texture. The tip of the tail was a rough diamond like shape. The top of the tail was observed inside the head of some of the phages as well.
