Discovery NotesThis phage was isolated from soil collected in Clairemont, San Diego in the evening/night. The soil was relatively dry and seemed to be silty. No significant plant growth was observed in the area, besides a couple of weeds, and the soil did not appear to have much humus or detritus. Soil was collected from a depth of about 2 inches beneath the surface.
Naming NotesI decided to name the phage cakepop19 because it looked like a cakepop with its almost spherical capsid and straight tail.
