Discovery NotesI found my phage near Providence River, in a patch of particularly dark and moist soil. I found this to be a suitable area for bacterial growth and, thus, phage propagation. In this soil, tall grasses were growing.
Naming NotesI chose the name of Elucidator for my phage because the name is essentially "clearer." In this sense, it refers to the phage's ability create zones of clearing, or plaques on agar plates.
Sequencing Information
Sequencing Complete?No
Genome length (bp)Unknown
Character of genome endsUnknown

Characterization
ClusterUnclustered
Subcluster--
Annotating InstitutionUnknown or unassigned
Annotation StatusNot sequenced
Plaque NotesThe plaques vary in size somewhat, but because of this variation persisting through 5 purifications, it is clear that I have a single phage. EM pictures only confirmed this. The morphology varies between the many 1mm plaques to large plaques as large as 3.5mm.
