Discovery NotesAfter enriching a sample of collected soil, plaque purification was performed six times by streaking onto LB plates. Following purification, empirical testing was conducted to find the concentration of this phage needed to attain confluent lysis. Before DNA digest, harvesting and titer calculations were performed to obtain a sufficient sample of phage.
Naming NotesThis phage is named after the hummingbird in the 1995 Disney film, Pocahontas. The phage has a long tail and small head, just as Flick has a long figure with a small head.

Plaque NotesPlaque morphology changed with the incubation period of the plates. During times of longer incubation (about 5 days) plaques appeared bulls-eyed with clear centers and turbid halos. These plaques were generally 4 mm in diameter. More often than not, when shorter incubation periods were used (i.e. 2-3 days) plaques were clear and had diameters of 1.5-2 mm.
