Discovery NotesPhage Floco was isolated from soil, collected on 4/3/22 by Zoe Gleason, at a depth of about 4 cm from soil taken near a flowering plant in an urban-residential location. This sample was damp soil w/ small pieces of wood and small rocks present. Air temp at time of collection was 16˚C.

Floco was isolated by enriched isolation at 35C. Additional Ca and Mg cations were included.

Wet lab characterization was performed by Team Bruno SARS (Zoe Gleason, Betania Hernandez, Muskaan Mehra, Kevin Olvera).

Naming NotesWe began calling each other this in lab, adding the F in front of “loco” to stand for four as our group is composed of four members. We found it to be a catchy name, and decided to use it for our phage.
