Discovery NotesThis phage was discovered from soil in a flower bed outside of the Hughes building on the campus of Gonzaga University. It was discovered in early February and went through an extensive process to be isolated to how it is now visible.
Naming NotesThis phage, "Grate", was named after my lab partner Kate Morrison and I, as our names combined (Greta + Kate) form Grate. We wanted to name it Dandy since it was found in a flower bed with dandelions growing in it, but that phage name was already taken so we decided on Grate. Also, phage does pretty great things for the world, so this name seemed fitting for that reason as well.
