Discovery NotesSoil sample for phage was located on the campus of UC San Diego nearby Galbraith Hall of Revelle college. The soil was three inches below the topsoil and was moist with many roots (later extracted). This was an area where landscapers consistently groom and spray pesticides, but is also constantly watered.
Naming NotesThe person who took the soil sample was Caesar, so we renamed it to Julius as a creative renaming. The "D" is for Caesar's last name "De La Fuente". 18 is for the year it was discovered, 2018.
