Discovery NotesThe dirt sample was collected on October 7th, 2014 from the hill in front of the UCSD Structural and Materials Engineering Building. The patch of soil on the hill was dark and moist. The weather was sunny with some clouds.
Naming NotesOne night I went to Tapioca Express for dinner and ordered spicy pork. However, I opened the container only to find that all the spicy seasoning had been dumped on my lettuce and none on my pork.
The confusion and small tinge of sadness I felt from this incident reflected my feelings when working in lab, as I happened to be the only student without a partner due to the class size being an odd number. As such, I often began each day in lab feeling very confused before I finally figured out what to do on my own, and thus my phage is named "Lettuce".
