Discovery NotesThe soil sample was collected behind a greenhouse on the Western Kentucky University campus. The soil was damp, had soil and root fragments mixed within it, and had a layer of moss above it. The soil was enriched and purified through a series of serial dilutions that worked to isolate the phage. Once the phage was isolated and of one genotype, a plate was made to collect the lysate from. The lysate was used for an electron microscopy image, the nanodrop calculations, and also the titer calculations.
Naming NotesI named the phage Moonpi because of a saying I have with my Dad, that refers to the trademarked name "MoonPie".

Plaque NotesThe plaques produced by the phage Moonpi were lytic with turbid halos surrounding them. The average plaque size, of the isolated Moonpi phage, was 5mm. The phage producing the lytic halo phages was isolated during the purification step in which a plaque was chosen from an enrichment sample plate and diluted until isolated.
