Discovery NotesThis phage was isolated from a soil sample, which was collected from saturated soil at the Duck Pond on Virginia Tech's campus. The area was next to the water and surrounded by trees. It was right off of the path, so there was probably not much foot traffic, but possible animal activity.
Naming NotesI wanted my phage to have a name that represented its true character and upbringing with the letters "p" and "h." I chose Phrantic because it relates to the high energy that exists in lab, which contrasts with the environment where I found the phage (the calm and peaceful Duck Pond).
