Discovery NotesAn environmental soil sample was retrieved on September 30, 2022 from the enriched, topsoil layer of a garden bed under mulch containing Echinacea flowers at an ambient temperature of 15°C. The sample was retrieved from the Playfair Park Area in Ottawa, Canada (45.3927680"N, -75.6407386"W).
Naming NotesThe name is a combination of the words "Resilire" which is the latin root word for "resilience", and "Echinacea" which is the genus for the flower species the soil sample was collected from.

The significance of the name is tied to 3 main points:

Resilinacea was successfully isolated after 6 rounds of tireless purification. Coneflowers/Echinacea are perennials, meaning they sprout, grow and bloom every year despite the cold winter weather. Out of 7 different samples, Resilinacea was the most resilient in comparison to the other phages that were used for purification.
