Discovery NotesSoil sample was taken approximately 1 cm below the soil surface from the mulch surrounding a blue spruce tree outside of the Bioscience building on James Madison University's east campus. The mulch was fairly dry and was neither new nor significantly decomposed.
Naming NotesPhage Sanchez is named after my grandmother Maria de Jesus Sanchez of Laredo, Texas who passed away on October 5th, 2022 at the age of 85, the same day the phage was discovered.
