Discovery NotesThe soil was collected outside of the Nelson Food Sciences building at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Upon collection, the time was around 3:35 in the afternoon and the temperature was ~90 degrees Fahrenheit. The soil was pretty dry when it was collected, and it had a sandy and granular composition. The soil was collected just below surface-level, maybe 5 centimeters underground so that mulch would not be included. The soil was found under a tree, which was just off the side of the road.
