Discovery NotesI collected my environmental sample on campus at LeTourneau University on 9/17/15 at about 8:20 AM. The specific location of where I retrieved my sample was at the base of a bush beside a parking lot in front of a residence hall. The weather was 73°F and sunny. The soil was slightly moist, partly because it was at the base of the plant and also because the ground had dew on it.
Naming NotesUntil I moved to Texas four years ago, I had been living in Maine my entire life. I still consider myself a "Mainer" rather than a "Texan," and I always will. Because this place is very special and unique to me, I wanted to name my phage after it. Originally, I wanted to name my phage "Island Falls," the town in which I grew up. However, to give my phage a simpler, one-word name, I chose to name it Aroostook, the county in which Island Falls is located.
