Discovery NotesWe collected the soil sample that contained our phage Aretha from the shoreline of the river on the Gonzaga campus. Our sample was taken from damp soil that contained some small rocks, stringy mud, and sand.
Naming NotesThe name Aretha comes from the ancient greek word meaning excellence. Although the name does not bear much significance towards our phage, the experimental process was excellent and our phage results turned out to be extremely favorable.
