Discovery NotesThe soil sample was collected from the southern point of Lake Arthur on Gonzaga University's campus. The sample was extracted by scooping up the topsoil from the shallows near the bank of the lake. The sample was composed of lake water, decaying plant medium, lakebed soil, and silt.
Naming NotesA small garter snake was swimming near the edge of the bank where the sample was collected. Sierra caught and gently handled the snake. Our phage was named ArthurtheSnake due to this experience upon collecting the sample along with the name of the lake it was extracted from.
