| Discovery Notes | This soil sample was taken from my backyard chicken coop. The soil was frozen and slightly wet because the ground was covered in accumulated amounts of snow and ice. An increase in temperature allowed the ice to begin thawing, allowing me to reach the soil underneath. I used a hammer to break the frozen chunks of soil and used a shovel to reach 1-2 inches underneath the bottom layer of snow and ice, removing about half a pound of soil. The soil sample is dark brown and slightly crumbly. Parts of the sample also included miniature rocks, sticks, dry hay, grinded chicken food (vegetables + seeds), and possible feces. |

| Plaque Notes | Plaque diameter: 1 mm Plaque radius: 0.5 mm The plaques produced by phage Cocolicious are see through with fuzzy edges and dark centers. The plaques are approximately 1 mm in diameter and indicate the presence of lytic phages. Further experiment revealed that the phage has potential to vary in size however mainly are between 0.5-1.5 mm. |
