Discovery NotesContagio3 is possibly a mutant phage of Vitas.
Vitas was discovered by Katarzyna Waniolka and then gave up for adoption to a classmate to work on it. The Contagio3 phage has much longer tail than Vitas, but very similar morphology in shape and size of the head to Vitas.
Naming NotesContagio3 is possibly a mutant phage of phage Vitas due to being adopted from Katarzyna Waniolka (Kasia) after Vitas was purified.
Classmate working on Contagio3:
"I adopted it from her phage Vitas therefore I feel as it should be named with something with adoption in the name."
