Discovery NotesI collected soil from (33.20819N,97.15135W) in Denton, Texas, right outside of Clark Hall at University of North Texas. The temperature was approximately 75 degrees Fahrenheit, the soil was slightly damp, and the air was humid due to the thunderstorm from the night before. To collect the soil sample, I dug about 1.5 inches from the top layer of the soil, and then added the soil into a plastic sandwich bag using a white plastic spoon, then sealed the soil and spoon inside of the plastic sandwich bag.
Naming NotesEthelEdna is named after two nicknames given to me by my mom. My mom constantly jokes that I am her "little old woman" her "Edna" or if I'm being sassy "Ethel." The nickname stuck with me and even my friends started using it. I named my phage after these nicknames to honor my mom and all she has done for me and my love of science, even if she doesn't always understand what I am talking about.
