Discovery NotesThis phage was found in the soil of a garden bed. This garden bed was on the campus of Lafayette College, in front of Skillman Library. The soil was undisturbed, and partially frozen. The sample was taken from approximately 2 inches deep into the garden bed. It was a cloudy, cold day with the outdoor temperature being 42°F (5.5°C).
Naming NotesThis phage is a combination of it's founders last names (Gibson and O'Shea). We chose "Gibshea" because we have put a lot of time and effort into isolating this phage and we feel it is an extension of ourselves, which is why we wanted to name it after ourselves.

Plaque NotesThe overall shape of this plaque was circular, with a small halo around the outside edges. Gibshea was determined to be a lytic phage with a crisp margin.
This plaque is approximately a millimeter in diameter, but gets smaller as it gets less concentrated.
