Discovery NotesThe soil was found right outside Florence Schneider Hall. The soil was very rough, full of mulch and insects. When I gathered the sample, it was raining so the sample was damp and a pool of water was visible.
Naming NotesThe name of this phage was decided on a coin flip. It was either going to be Lolipop7 or Gingersnap5

Lysogeny NotesGingersnap5 appears to be a very temperate phage. This is noticeable by the differences in the appearance of the plaques based on how long they had been exposed to the phage. Plaques that had been exposed for a shorter amount of time were often completely cloudy while more mature plaques formed halos.
Annotating InstitutionUnknown or unassigned
Annotation StatusNot sequenced
Plaque NotesGingersnap5 produces very turbid plaques with visible "halos". These halos can be seen more clearly in more mature plaques. The inner part of the plaques appear mostly clear while the outer ring/halo is more cloudy, indicating less lysed cells.
