Discovery NotesThe phage isolated was found among soil rich in organic matter and fertilizer. The area was damp and the air was cool.
Naming NotesThe phage name, HanSola, is in remembrance of the first phage sample I originally tried to isolate, found in the backyard of a house on campus called, The SOLA House. The name, “Sola” is derived from the name of that house, and the name “Han” in front of the “Sola” makes for a funny reference to the popular Star Wars character, Han Solo.
