Discovery NotesThe dirt sample “Horcrux” was taken from under a bush and tree in front of hicks estate apartments at Chatham University. The soil was semi-wet when collected and began to dry out after being contained in the Ziplock bag. It was collected 1-2 inches beneath the surface, including some topical soil.
The outdoor temperature was a consistent 20-30 degrees F over a month span and was collected beneath snow. The sample was kept at room temperature. It is a dark umber brown with some flecks of a light brown pigment as well. There are some small pebbles sticks, and a small worm within the sample.
Naming NotesWe named it Horcrux because they are found virtually anywhere like a bacteriophage. Both are also difficult to identify.
