Discovery NotesThere were heavy rains a couple of days prior to collection as well as a tornado/tropical storm that passed through the area on 8/29/2020. The weather was sunny on the day of collection and the sample was taken from underneath decomposing plant material and debris from the recent storm. The soil had been recently disturbed from the addition of new debris from the storm. This was the second sample collected for the day.
Naming NotesThe name is a mixture of my initials and science. It also stands for "Mad Scientist".
Sequencing Information
Sequencing Complete?No
Genome length (bp)Unknown
Character of genome endsUnknown
Fasta file available?No
Characterization
ClusterUnclustered
Subcluster--
Lysogeny NotesThis phage was tested for potential lysogens to confirm its lifecycle observed from its "pin-prick", lytic plaques. As previously observed, this phage is lytic because it did not form lysogens after performing a patch assay and homoimmunity test.
Annotating InstitutionUnknown or unassigned
Annotation StatusNot sequenced
Plaque NotesThe plaques look like "pin-pricks" and are .1 - .2mm in diameter. They are lytic because the edges are easily distinguishable.

The average capsid width was 66.43 nm and the average capsid length was 68.19 nm. The average tail length was 152.79 nm.
