Discovery NotesThis phage sample was taken from soil around the tree roots of a tree outside of Umrath House on the South 40 at Washington University in St. Louis. The sample was isolated from a depth of 4cm, the soil was dry, and nutrient rich and isolated on 9/29 at 10:00am.
Phonos was isolated through direct isolation, and underwent four rounds of dilution and purification before its high titer lysate was collected.
Naming NotesThe name Phonos is the name of a murderer in greek mythology which we felt was appropriate because our phage is very efficient at lysing bacteria.
