Discovery NotesThe soil sample was collected by an Florida Gulf Coast University alumna, Michaela Smith, who now attends Boston University. The soil was taken from urban Boston very near Commonwealth Avenue.
Naming NotesPraegressus is a Latin word meaning advance, development, evolution, which I thought was fitting for a phage because of how quickly viruses can mutate and evolve. Praegressus has been the name of my blog since I began college three years ago.
