Discovery NotesThis phage was isolated by rinsing the mouth with sterile saline, filtering through a 0.22 um filter, and plating 0.5 mL of filtrate with 0.5 mL stationary bacteria culture onto a Trypsic Soy Agar (TSA) plate with 0.5% Tryptic Soy Top Agar (TSTA) supplemented with 1 mM CaCl2. Plaques formed after 24-48 hours at 37C.
Naming NotesRuth sounds similar to the name of it's host bacteria, Rothia dentocariosa.
