Discovery NotesI collected my soil a few hours after a thunderstorm when the sun was shining, and the air was cool. I dug near my mint plants. The soil was a little course but still hydrated and was easy to dig out. It was dark brown with some sand and quite crumbly with a lot of small pebbles.
Naming NotesI named my phage Syrmint after my father, who grew the mint plant that I took my soil sample from. I wanted to dedicate my phage to my father who made learning biology fun for me as a kid, and reminds me everyday that hard work will always pay off.

Plaque NotesI had small phages on my bacterial plates that measured a diameter of 1 mm / radius of 0.5 mm. Because my plaque's radius was small, my PFU needed to create a webbed plate was relatively high. My plaques were tiny and clear with very solid borders around the circle. They were all uniform in size and color, and did not vary throughout different procedures.
