Isolation Temperature37°C
GPS Coordinates40.7888 N, 73.04904 W Map
Discovery NotesThe phage was collected from a soil sample from Asweel's backyard garden. The soil sample was loose with few roots. It was dark brown and contained a lot of moisture. The sample was collected during good weather with clear skies and sunny. The temperature at the time of collection was about 76 degrees Celsius.
Naming NotesThe name is latin for "Green Murderer". The reasoning behind the name is that a significant number of the agar plates that contained the phage would be green in color. Furthermore, the phage is very effective at killing bacteria like a lot of bacteriophage hence the name ViridiHomicid or latin for "Green Murderer".
