Discovery NotesThe soil sample was taken just outside Maple Hall on UNT's campus. There was a rain gutter that spilled into a patch of dirt, and this patch was selected. The soil was dark, dense, and moist.
Naming NotesAngelis Mortis means "Angel of Death" in Latin. According to Biblical accounts, God sent the angel of death to kill the firstborn son of all of the houses in Egypt that were not marked with the blood of a flawless lamb. This process seemed allegorical with my bacteriophage. It is lytic and will quickly enter take the life of its specific bacterial host.
