Discovery NotesThe phage AsterP was found in a damp area with wildflowers at the edge of a forest, mostly in the sun.
The soil temperature was 19,6°C and the ambient temperature was 21,3°C.
The soil was collected approximately 2 cm below the surface.

Genomic DNA was sequenced on a ONT Minion, R10.4.1 chemistry. The sequence was assembled into one contig of 3676 bp with 100% query cover with 78.61% identity to Sloopyjoe (AW). The contig also has 100% query cover with many other AW phages. This sequence is incomplete based on the size of other AW phages.
Naming NotesThe name of the phage comes from the type of flower under which it was found.
